Volunteers play a vital role in our shelter's success! There are many different ways that you can help, including volunteering at the SPCA, at home, or at off-site events. Please browse our list of Volunteer Positions and see what interests you!

All new volunteers will attend a Volunteer Interest Meeting to learn more about the SPCA and the opportunities that exist. From there, each volunteer will meet with Sarah Johnston, our Volunteer Coordinator. Sarah will get to know you and help you to match your interests and abilities to one of our volunteer teams.

After this process, volunteers will go through Orientation and Training. Training requirements vary depending upon the volunteer role; however, all positions include a free Animal Handling Course taught by one of our local veterinarians.

All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to work at the SPCA. Children between the ages of 13 and 15 are welcome to join us; however, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. (We love parent and child volunteer teams!)

Volunteers are asked to pay a $15 fee to help us offset the cost of volunteer shirts, nametags, and training. Volunteers must be able to commit at least 8hours per month for 6 months. We encourage volunteers to have an up-to-date tetanus vaccination, although it is not required.
